All material was recorded 1993-1994. Recorded @ the Creep House February to April 2010. Compilation of studio, live and practice recordings strung together in a completely A. D. D. manner. This is a collection of some of the best recordings of our early stuff that we could piece together. Guess we will just have to re-record everything sometime. These songs were all recorded during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020-21 while we were isolated in our individual basements. We were never in the same room together while recording. Technology can be pretty cool sometimes. What a time to be alive. The Ruin Creek/Ostrichsized single was released by Creep Records. It features the album version of Ruin Creek along with a Lifetime cover of Ostrichsized as the B-side. The download card comes with 5 bonus tracks taken from various live shows, demos and a song from the Kettle Pot Black "On The Hill" series. 500 records were pressed in three color variations. Screen-printed sleeve, blue vinyl. Comes with a bonus 7". Lots of skips. Philadelphia-based hardcore punk band that existed from 1994 - 1998. They mocked "dis" and "crust" style bands, hence the name "Dis Sucks! " Original version of the Pride and Persecution LP, self released by the band on "Reboot Records". Limited to 100 hand numbered copies on White Vinyl. Collaboration album. Jason Daniello Ft The Color Fred – Darkest Of Days The Color Fred Ft. " Also included on this record were Jim McMonagle & the Dangerbirds, Erode and Disappear and Circle the City. Recorded live on WKDU on March 26, 2006. Released as a CD-R for tour, I think limited to 50 copies (maybe not though, who knows). Recorded and mixed in late 2006 at Clay Creek Studio in Newark, DE, by Nick Rotundo. Mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music in New Windsor, NY. Recorded, mixed, and mastered at Red Planet Studio, Clifton Heights, PA, by Bruce Howze and Joe Smiley, July and November 2005. Kettle Rebellion was the first "full-band" incarnation of Mischief Brew. Formed in 2001, after the "Mirth" demo was unleashed, the band only played five shows in Philly, recorded eight songs in 2002, and that was that. The songs were never mastered nor released. A few years later, some kids were staying at Erik and Denise's house and one of them swiped the final mixes. He made up his own song titles (because they weren't listed), and put it on Soulseek as a "rare Mischief Brew record. " That totally sucked. Twelve years later, we secured an adequate high-bitrate backup copy so we seized the opportunity, mastered it, and now are finally releasing it. It is limited to 250 copies on oxblood vinyl so don't delay! Also available on April 1st digitally, and on CD from Different Circle Records, UK. Tolkien-style medieval anarcho-balladry. Here is the REAL track listing, not the invented one: 1. Seeking The Brave 2. Victory Dance Of The Outlanders 3. A Liquor Never Brewed 4. Away With Purity 5. Barratry Call 6. The Master Is A Drunkard 7. Doomsday Evening 8. Storming The Sandcastles The earliest studio recordings, long out of print, get a new coat of paint! This is the "Philadelphia" side of the split LP with Robert Blake (tracks 1-6) and the "Bakenal" EP (tracks 5-11) combined once and for all. The songs have been remastered from the original 2002 analog tapes and sound better than ever. A classic batch of songs from the folk punk dumpstered-salad days, brought to you by Fistolo Records (CD/digital) and Square Of Opposition Records (vinyl). Folk-punk heroes Mischief Brew and Franz Nicolay team up on this collaborative 7” EP paying homage to songs that inspired their writing. Aside from his wonderful solo records, Franz Nicolay was a founding member with The Hold Steady and The World/Inferno Friendship Society, and touring member of Against Me! Together with Mischief Brew’s Erik Petersen, these supremely talented and influential musicians perform stylized renditions of “The Mary Ellen Carter”, originally by Stan Rogers, and the obscure gem “I Drink” by Charles Aznavour, a French-Armenian crooner often referred to as “the French Sinatra”. Recorded at the WXPN Performance Studio on December 20th, 2015 by James Clark Conner and Brian Goehrig. Mixed by Conner in Philadelphia. Limited release available at Bandcamp. com for a short time: "First off, thanks for downloading and contributing to... whatever it is we do. We’ve been meaning to put something like this together for a while, but it involved going through a ton of CDR’s and sorting the bad from the... kind of bad. It took a snowday in the middle of one of the worst winters in Philadelphia history to pull the box out of the garage and pick out 16 tracks that we thought were worthwhile (curious, funny, interesting) enough to unleash. The fact that we live in an era where an album can be created out of thin air and spontaneously put online for free/pay-what-you-want, instantly reaching hundreds to thousands of people, should be enough to convince you that we live in the best era for independent music, maybe ever. Hopefully it goes without saying that this stuff isn’t for everybody. If it pops up on the shuffle setting on your iPod at a party, you’ll probably be met with a lot of “what the hell is this? ” type questions. Yet I don’t think it’s necessarily for only diehard fans. In the middle ground, hopefully it provides a window into how our songs develop into the versions you know and love. It’s a long, arduous, at times sickly and cringe-worthy process. From the acoustic guitar in the living room to the 4-track, or the pre-production stage in the studio, to the early rough mix, to the final... Not a split, but a collaboration between Mischief Brew and Guignol. A limited cassette version was released on The Cottage Records. Recorded in Brooklyn, NY at Vibromonk Studios by Danny Shatzky. Philly anarcho-punk/folk troubadours Mischief Brew celebrate their fifteenth year not with a champagne toast, but by barreling into the bar and slamming down This Is Not For Children, their fourth studio album and debut on Alternative Tentacles Records. Recorded at Permanent Hearing Damage by Steve Roche—who recorded many of the band’s early releases including "Songs From Under the Sink"—it breathes and bleeds a tough spirit that could only have been born in the streets, bars and empty warehouses of Philadelphia, PA. Songs about everything from squatting to baseball to horror director William Castle (which is how the album gets its name). Third official full-length. Track 12 is unlisted, and is adapted from a Rudimentary Peni song on “Cacophony,” with words by H. P. Lovecraft. Recorded in Royersford, PA at The Welfare Line Studios by Mike Kerchner, with additional recording in NYC at Vibromonk. An official “demo discography. ” Includes the complete “Mirth” demo, songs from “Live on WKDU” and “Don’t Spoil Yer Supper,” and unreleased demos. Released exclusively in Europe, but available worldwide as an online/downloadable version (which includes a bonus track, "The Ballad Of The Cloth"). Three songs that were considered for 2011's "The Stone Operation," but recorded afterwards. A barnburner, a medieval-sounding anarcho-carol (performed by The Orphans once), and a protest march! Features Tom from Meisce on fiddle. Recorded by Steve Roche at Permanent Hearing Damage, mastered by Carl Saff, pressed on blue vinyl! "O, Pennsyltucky! " is a love song to our fair state of PA, but like all good love songs, there's some darkness in there. Referencing places like the near-ghost-town of Centralia, PA and the Three Mile Island plant, the song pays tribute to the very weird state we live in, and two of our favorite cities on both sides. While "O, Pennsyltucky! " will appear on the next LP, "This Is Not For Children," there are two B-sides that are exclusive to this release. "We Are The Ground" (a song about the tragic death of Ann Coulter, heh heh) and "Dirty Overhauls," a kinda-Woody Guthrie cover, rearranged by Erik Petersen and Chris Neumann (2. 5 Children Inc. ), and put back together. Exclusive to Bandcamp, this is all the Mischief Brew songs from the split LP with Joe Jack Talcum ("Photographs From The Shoebox"), plus two songs from compilation CDs. The first is "A Peasant's Rebellion" from "The State I'm In" compilation, and the other is a Mancub cover, "An Open Letter To The North American Continent," from the "Mancubbers" tribute. 4-way split 7" co-released by Fistolo and Crafty Records. Limited amounts were on white and dark red vinyl. Brew song recorded by Steve Roche for a bunch of comps that never happened. Perhaps the coolest record we've ever appeared on. Not a 7", but a split 8" with Andrew Jackson Jihad, mastered with concentric grooves. Depending on where you put the needle, you will hear either an acoustic or electric version of the songs. The test pressing is a yellow 8" inside of a 10", ye drooling record nerds. Recorded in Royersford, PA at The Welfare Line Studios by Mike Kerchner. 7" single on marble vinyl. Recorded in Royersford, PA at The Welfare Line Studios by Mike Kerchner. Split LP/CD with Joe Jack Talcum (The Dead Milkmen, The Low Budgets). LP was on grey vinyl. For those of you still asking about the fabled split 7" with Suicide Bid, "Labor Day" and "Analog" were intended for that record. Recorded in Royersford, PA at The Welfare Line Studios by Mike Kerchner. LP/CD of songs written between 1997-2002 but never recorded until 2005, and released after “Smash The Windows. ” A full-band version of “A Rebel’s Romance” appeared on the LP, while the CD had an acoustic version. Recorded in Philadelphia at Permanent Hearing Damage by Steve Roche. Split 7" with Bread & Roses, with one original (MB does an acoustic version of "Nomads Revolt") and one traditional labor song from each band. Recorded in West Chester, PA at Second Story Sound Studios by Mike Bardzik. The first Mischief Brew full-length album released in 2005 by Fistolo Records (US), and in 2006 by Gunner Records (EU). Recorded in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY at Vibromonk Studios by Tamir Muskat and Danny Shatzky, December 2004-January 2005. Collected songs from the first two releases, and sold at shows while we were in the process of putting together the first official EP. DIY-packaged CDr of the original set on WKDU (Drexel University), recorded by Jim Cavanagh. The demo that started it all, recorded in a basement on a four-track. Fully titled "Mirth, or, Certain Verses Composed And Fitted To Tunes, For The Delight And Recreation Of All," it was later remixed and remastered and appeared in its entirety on "Boiling Breakfast Early. Live At Maxwells 27 June 08 2021 Tour flexi-disc for the Boy Sets Fire/ Be Well/ All Else Failed tour, limited to 215. Comes with a xeroxed color copy of a drawing by singer Luke Muir. Featuring members of 2. 5 Children Inc. and Mischief Brew, this is a collection of anti-war/anti-corporate empire songs in the vein of Woody Guthrie, Bruce Springsteen, and Tom Waits (before it was cool to do that). A few Northeast shows and a short southern tour transpired as a result. A digital-only EP of five unearthed studio, live, demo and acoustic outtakes recorded during their most active period in the mid-90s... from one of the first songs they ever recorded ("Kill Your Parents" in 1994) to one of the last they ever wrote ("Shut Us Down"). The Orphans were Erik Petersen's punk rock troupe in the 90's before Mischief Brew, and this is a collection of everything (worthwhile) that they ever did! Includes studio tracks as well as live, practice, and acoustic songs. More angry youthful rebel-core than you can shake a skateboard at. Two sides of live shows from Philly and Pittsburgh in 1992-1992, both recorded on a boombox from the audience. Side A: Blackhole, Philadelphia 1-05-92 Side B: Upstage, Pittsburgh 12-07-91 On First Fifteen by Headflap, this extremely unique quartet delivers 15 stylistically diverse gems first presented by previous lineups of Bernie Bernie Headflap (BBH) in its first 15 years, 1992 through 2007. After the umpteenth lineup of Bernie Bernie Headflap (BBH) was assembled by Kermit'Kit' Lyman III, (of Slumlord Philadelphia and several other projects) now on guitar and vocals Alan McCabe, who had founded the project in '92 and approached Lyman in '08, decided to shorten the excessively eccentric name to Headflap. It soon became clear that longtime BBH supporter Lyman and the locally well-respected Cooper-Price Rhythm Section -- Kevin Cooper (ex-Spongegod ex-Bobbykork and ex-Rusty Nails with Kit) on bass and younger drummer in town Zach Price were very eager to try their hands at the songs they'd seen BBH's previous lineups attack in years past. You hold in your hands a one of a kind lathe cut seven inch that includes four songs from Plow United. Unlike "pressed" vinyl, the music on this recording was cut by a lathe, one at a time, in mono, much like the origins of acetate recordings. Only 50 of these will ever exist, each unique in their own way. Thank you so much for supporting independent bands and labels. The 7″ that never happened, but we did put out a crappy CDR with the stuff we recorded for it 7 years later. No rush, right? ## Bands Sumo Grimace were a emo/punk band from Almonte, Ontario. Started in the summer of 1995, the original aim was to play one show, but reception was positive and the band continued. Later that summer, they recorded their original demo cassette "Where the Hell is Delaware? " which they self-released. The following spring, they recorded again, the best songs of which would become the "Paper Bag Tape", which they took on them for their first tour- playing dates in the the US with Strung Out, Diesel Boy, Bigwig, Suicide Machines and others. One song from this recording was also released on the "Don't Forget to Make an Effort" compilation on King Recordz. in 1997, the band would record its 7" single, "Almonte and Other Dreams We've Had"- named after their hometown. This release was sold on their upcoming tour in January 1998, which became known as "The Tour of Doom" due to numerous problems including shows cancelled at the last minute and their van catching on fire. Shortly after this tour, the band decided to break up. Guitarist/vocalist Adam Puddington later went on to a solo career in the folk-rock genre. So... it all started one day when some band had a show booked, but then one of the guys in the band had a conflict and had to play out-of-state with another band the same day. Well known as the singer and guitarist for Plow United, Brian's pedigree as a musician dives much deeper than the three chord angst that you'd expect. Melding country, blues, and folk with hints of Americana you can expect a great set of stripped down passion and heartfelt sincerity very seldom found these days. Formerly Gloworm Witchery was a death metal band that hailed from the Pottstown area in 1991. They were known for 3-5 minute long epics of melodic brutality, in the death metal style of the early 90’s. The original line up had four members with lots of hair. They made loose ties with the West Chester scene through sharing a few shows with 2. 5 Children between 91-92 and through the drummer who ended up in West Chester and eventually Corrupt Justin. After calling it quits around 1993, the band reunited as a trio in 1997, but ended a couple years later as a hard-core trio called "World Demise". Emerging from the undead ashes of PA punk troupe The Orphans, Mischief Brew started with a scratchy demo tape in 2000 and has since spread the good word of anarchy, hilarity, and rebellion across state lines and even the Atlantic Ocean a few times. They managed to exist for over 15 years in one form or another by kissing nobody's ass and doing everything ourselves, for the most part. No rules! Erik Peterson sadly passed away on July 10th, 2017.
